2.9.2022: Drive to the mountains in a hired car - Porto Limnionas, Anafonitria, Kabi.
We have hired a car for two days. Today we drive to the mountains of the western coast.
In the morning however a rare event at this time of the year - a thunderstorm
We drive through the rain, but towards the drawing direction of the clouds, meaning: when we leave the plain, the sun is already shining, ...
... and the clouds leave the island via the cove of Laganas, heading to southeast - the Peloponnes.
On the way down from the main road to a very small cove called Porto Limnionas, we still see the big cloud on the horizon, ...
... and blue skies on the opposite northwestern side.
In fact, Porto Limnionas if a fjord leading nearly 100 m into the land. The water is wonderfully clear, although it is not easy to get into.
On the slope above are terraces with beds to rent, and a taverna.
Driving further; in the little village of Exo Chora there is an olive tree, 2000 years old ...
... still having fruits on.

After extended shopping in Anastasia´s Souvenir shop in Anafonitria, buying nice things from olive wood, spiced olive oil, sesame almonds and much more, we drive back to Kabi and down to a rocky cove. Beneath the road is a taverna, where you look steep down over a balustrade to the cove at the western coast..
A bit up a small mountain with an overdimendional cross on its summit. Beneath the cross is another taverna: "Taverna Cross", with terrace where you have a breathtaking view. W have reserved a table for today´s dinner. 210 m asl, and the Ionian sea beneath us.
