August 6th/7th, 2012: quiet and hot days in the hotel

The first days it was unbearably hot, to the middle of the first week the temperature was up to 42 C with high humidity and nearly no wind. As you get sweating from changing the pages of your book when laying around on the bed at the pool, and also the first days should be dedicated to recovery, we abandon plans for activities and postpone them to cooler days which are forecast for the end of the week: "only" 32 C!

This was the flight positon of the last picture during the flight. And no - there was no crash into the rock ...

A fine view from the terrasse near the Pool of our hotel. The mountains of the Vassilikos peninsula ...

... with the strictly protected cove and beach of Gerakas ...

... and the small unoccupied rock island of Kalonisi opposite of Gerakas.

The Payrits family  is enjoying life without soaps ...

180 panoramic view from the hotel terrace. Far left the Vassilikos peninsula, then the large cove of Laganas with Kalonisi, Marathonissi to the right with the Keri pensinsula in behind. Click here or into the picture for a larger version.

The hotel pool

On the masoned slope beneath the pool lots of rock samphire rock samphire (Crithmum maritimum) ...

... which is readily visited ...

 ... by wasps.

The hotel pool.

The hotel garden

The small pool bar where you get snacks, tea, coffee and drinks - directly besides the stairs down to the beach.

At the opposite end of the terrace a wilderness of reed - in the place of a very small valley that may contain water during the winter.

View in direction of Laganas.

Planes landing at times, but nobody is bothered by them - just looking with a bit of interest, which air line is landing now  ...

... like the Scandinavian in this case.

Evening at the pool bar. Not so hot at last.
