You have to stand on the crater rim to recognize that the Pico Viejo only is the highest spot of a huge volcanic crater, much larger than the Vesuvio crater. This is a panoramic picture of this crater as seen from one of the minor peaks, depicted in the map as Pico Sur (3.106 m) (which I regarded as Pico Viejo for the first).
