2.1.2023: Driving to the Serengeti for safari.

Four day safari (three nights outside) to the Serengeti National park.

Nicxe veiw to Mount Meru in the morning.

Aloe folowers at the lodge

This raven seems to be interested in the rests of yesterday´s grilled goat.

On the way, already distant from the lodge the village (small ton) of Mto wa Mbu. It is situated at the shore of Lake Manyara and is famous for its fruit plantations, especially for bananas. A local special is the yummy red bananas, from which I must buy some.

On a knoll a few kilometres after the village there is a rest place with good view down to Lake Manyara, which contains much water at the moment, so trees near the water line are flooded.

Panoramic picture of Lake Manyara.

We stop for first accomodation at the Ngorongoro Farmhouse lodge, which, apart from beautiful rooms, also comprises a large plantation, where fruit and vegetables for all lodges of the same group are grown.

Flowers, behind are bananas and coffe bushed between high mountains, ...

... a speciality of this farm. O course, the self-produced coffee - these are the flowers of the coffee plants - is served in the lodges.

Under the trees behind the flowers are the coffee plants.

Melanzani plants.

Tree tomatoes (tamarillo), a tree derived from South America cropping fruits looking like tomatoes, but tasting very different; they are eaten as fruit.
