28.12.2022: In the Lodge and in Paulo´s Permaculture garden.

First thing is: wind down and develop the holiday feeling. This can be achieved extremely fast here.

On the way to the restaurant: the Pool, which is not really crowded in the morning and with cloudy weather.

Wonderful breakfast outside.

I walk to the small car park, wheere Iwait for my driver to bring me toPaulo´s permaculture garden, a few kilometres apart. Aloe in flower near the car park.

Oher creatures waiting at the car park ...

...

The drive with the open all-terrain vehicle all of a sudden comes to an end shortly before the intended destination.

A multi-leaf spring has detatched from its mounting.

The car isn´t in a top state otherwise. The front passenger door does not hold closed - for lack of spare parts, an alternative lock was welded on.

The last part of the way we do by walking.

I brought with me something special for Paulo a little orange tree.

Paulo immediately plants it in his garden.

Oranges you get in Tanzania are hard, sour and full of seeds. This is a seedless type cropping Navel oranges like those sold in Europe. I had to prune the tree to fit in the suitcase, but brought the cut trees with me. With these, we just try to graft one of Paulo´s orange trees by inoculation.

Together with his workers, Paulo has digged a big hole at the entrance to his garden. He is planning to line it with plastic foil. It will be used to store water from the nearby beck flowing down from Mount Meru during floodwater at rain season.

Women are washing their laundry in this beck.

The laundry is hang up after washing.

Filippo makes me pose with a Maasai-cloth.

In the meantime, another driver fromthe losge has arrived with his car, to bring me back. The broken car will be repaired on the spot by mechanics from the Africa Amini Alama garage in Ngare Nanjuki.

I spend the afternoon in the lodge and enjoy life on the bed at the pool. A short stroll in between to the highest hill of the lodge area, ...

... where these beautiful flowers are growing on its slope.

Late afternoon, shortly before sunset. Clouds on Meru, ...

... and a short shower is enlightened by the deep sun. The pike to the right is Mount Mukuru.

Mount Meru

Changing light on the rain shower.

In between, a view to Mount Longido, with good visibility at the moment.

Shortly before sunset.

On the opposite side, part of Kilimandscharo is visible vor a few minutes.
