27. and 28.2. Resting days in the Lodge.

After the forced marches of the two recent days, I treat myself to two days of rest. I pay a visit to my godchild Victor John, attending the Pamoja Secondary School, which is about 1 km from the lodge; on the second day, I meet Angel, the godchild of my wife Susanne.

As always when I am in Africa, I´d gone to bed early, so I wake up at 6 a.m. - with "heavy legs" I walk out to greet the sun, which is going to rise behind Kilimandscharo.

Already shining on Mount Meru.

Out now - a fire ball on the horizon.

The shades are still long.

Mount Meru, in full sun now.

Mount Meru and the watch men´s hut of the Original Maasai Lodge. The area is guarded day and night.

Exam day in the Pamoja Secondary School. Tables have been carried out to keep distance, to protect from cheating. Good against C. too.

I take some pictures of flowers frequently growing here - Pentanisia ouranogyne

Complete rest in the afternoon. Kilimandscharo wrapped in clouds as ervey day.

Late afternoon, I have to leave my bed at the pool, because Kilimandscharo makes its appearance now.

I mount my camera with he long telephoto lens on a tripod and wait for the things to come.

Rather bright still.

With the sun approaching the horizon, the colours change to orange/red.

No more sun down here.

Detail with the very long setting (600 mm)

The light is fading now at last.

I have left the camera on the tripod, because it is full moon tonight.

Despite the high cloud cover there is an impressive picture of Kilimandscharo.

Moonlight on the steppe too.

28.2.2021: on the way to the school once more. Maasai children taking care of the herds.

Large areas with ink flowers (Cycnium tubulosum).
