Driving around the Costa smeralda 21.9.2017

We have planned two tours for today: an early morning drive on the Monte Moro, and in the afternoon, after the lunch, a drive to the North to Capo dī Orso and - for sunset - to Capo Testa.

According to the internet, sunrise should be at about 7:10 a.m. Although this is a bit later now in September, you have to get up early. As it isnīt clear how long the drive  would take, we are up at about 390 m asl as early as 6:40 - and freezing a lot due to 11 °C and a light wind.

But the atmosphere is gorgeous. There is a larger version of this panoramic picture..

Slowly the horizon getting lighter to the east.

Now, a region is even lighter than the rest ...

... and a small orange-red dot is appearing there, ...

... increasing rapidly to a segment of a circle, ...

 ... getting larger and larger.

The disk is now emerged completely.

Driving back now down the gravel road, this time in the light of the morning sun. Bizarre granite rocks.

View to the North to the small isdland of La Maddalena, on the horizon the large neighbouring island of Corsika.

After a quiet morning at the pool and an early lunch, we drive to Palau via Arzachena, and visit the famous Capo dī Orso, carriyng a bizarre granite rock shaped like a bear (ital. "Orso"). After payment of 3 Euro per person, you may use a wonderfully constructed path up there.

Granite rocks everywhere.

We would have to rock climb without this path.

View to the south ...

... and to the North to the small island of La Maddalena (with Corsika in behind).

Bizarre rocks, here called "Tafoni".

A bizarre cave beneath the bear rock.

Even in this close up view, the bear rock does not look like a bear.

We drove to Capo Testa, to enjoy the sunset.

Still the rocks are from granite here.

The lighthouse of Capo Testa.

Corsika is ...

... very close here, nearly on the northwesternmost point of Sardinia.

The sun is rather deep now - the golden hour.

The camera mounted on a tripod, I wait for the things to come.
