Marble Quarry 5.10.2016

After weeks of warm weather, last weekend we got cold weather with rain and wind. Today the sun is back - at least in my region. In the morning, I start to the marble quarry and on the Engelsberg.

First, I walk through the vineyards heading for Bad Fischau.

Then, I branch off to the left into a steep path up to the marble quarry. Good visibility today and sunshine.

View to Bad Fischau and Wiener Netstadt ...

... and to Winzendorf and the "Bucklige Welt".

Up now along the quarry to the Engelsberg

Winzendorf behind the quarry.

Finally the view to the other side, the "Neue Welt" and Hohe Wand.

Not everywhere the sun is shining - a week rain shower over the Hohe Wand, producing a week rainbow (which I only discovered afterwards on the picture!!!).

The large aisles the forest harvester has cut last winter are now overgrown with plants - prominent the Common toadflax (Linaria vulgaris), which is flowrishing now (again?).

The toadflax covers large areas.

Now you get views you didnīt get last year.

Common Whitebeams (Sorbus aria) have many fruits this year.

The faint rainbow still can be seen.

Engelsberg summit is a very beautiful place.

Back at the marble quarry ...

... and in the vine yards, after the descent.

The vine harvest is over now.
