Heberlberg 29.5.2013

I have to drive to Moosbrunn and so I drive through Traisirchen. This gives me the opportunity for the very short detour to the Heberlberg near Pfaffstätten.

Huge vineyards along the so called "vine road" between Baden, Gumpoldskirchen and Mödling.

My destination is to the left in the background, a small area of dry grassland between forest, nearly invisible on this picture.

View from near the forest to Gumpolsdskirchen

Steep grassland at the "backside" of the Heberlberg - be sure it is manured, so it is completely uninteresting botanically.

But the southern side is impressive, a steep dry grass area to the south and southeast. Even from afar, you can see the many exemplars of ...

White Dittany (Dictamnus albus)

Great plants, more beautiful than in my garden.

Inula hirta

View from Heberlberg over vineyards to Richtung Traiskirchen and Pfaffstätten. The Leitha mountains in the background.

View in southern direction to the town of Baden (where Beethoven and Mozart had their vacations). Charakteristic Feather grass ...

... also here as a "finery" of this Siberian Bellflower (Campanula sibirica)

Dalmatinische Lotwurz (Onosma-visianii)

Common rockrose (Helianthemum nummularium)

Cantabrian Morning Glory (Convolvulus cantabrica) - Thanks a lot to Robert Hansmann for identification!

Stiff Hedgenettle (Stachys recta)

Felsen Goldlack (Erysimum sylvestre)

This is a nature protection area.

From below you nearly don´t see the grassland.

Dog rose

I cannot identify this plant (presumably belonging to the familiy of Brassicaceae). Tiny single flowers.

Elder flowers in the vineyard ...
