Grüner See ("Green Lake") 11.10.2022

A day trip to Styria to the Grüner See near the village of Tragöß.

We park at the very first car park (6 Euro for parking!). After a few steps, the first water: one of the two Pfarrerteiche ("priest´s ponds).

After a few minutes, we reach the Kreuzteich ("Cross"´s pond).

After another 10 minutes we reach the Grüner See, which at first sight looks a bit disappointing due to its very low autumnal water level.

Due to the low water level, the "rearward" (northern) part of the Grüner Sees is now separated and only a small puddle.

As the sun is oming out now, I walk back to the larger (main) part of the lake

A sad view.

Short rest with the dogs.

There is also a very small, northeastern cove of the lake, which we pass now.

A bit more clouds now, but it stays dry.

A last view to the Grüner See. According to the Homepage of the lake, the water level now is 2 m, in spring, during snow melting on the mountains, it may go up to 11 m or more. Lower parts of the surrounding woods are under water then.
